Major Golf Tournaments in 2023: When and Where are the Majors in 2023?

Last year was an incredible year in golf across all men and women Majors. The new year promises to be just as phenomenal as golf’s biggest stars, vets, and amateurs get set to compete for the big prizes of the tournaments.

Some Majors will be returning to familiar terrain, while a couple venues will be hosting their first Major. Nevertheless, we can always trust this year’s tournaments to offer the best showpieces. Without further ado, here’s all you need to know about the time and place for all nine Majors this year.

Men’s Golf

The Masters

Venue: Augusta National, Augusta, GA

Dates: April 6-9, 2023

The Masters is the only Major with a permanent turf. Augusta National has hosted the Masters every year since 1934, and is set to do it again this year.

Currently, golf betting odds favor Rory McIlroy to win his first Masters, after finishing second in 2022.

PGA Championship

Venue: Oak Hill Country Club’s East Course, Rochester, NY

Dates: May 18-21, 2023

Oak Hill Country Club hosts its fourth PGA Championship, which is set to take place on the weekend before the US Memorial Day. The Club was established in 1901, and has been renovated severally, most recently in 2019.

The US Open

Venue: Los Angeles Country Club, Los Angeles, CA

Dates: June 15-18, 2023

The Country Club of Brookline Massachusetts hosted last year’s US Open, but in 2023, the tournament makes its way to the West Coast.

The Los Angeles Country Club, a private club, did not hold any ajor tournament until 2017, when it hosted the Walker Cup.

The Open

Venue: Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Liverpool, England

Dates: July 20-23, 2023

This club is one of fourteen sites to host the oldest Major in golf, and is set to do so for the 13th time.

Women’s Golf

The Chevron Championship

Venue: The Club at Carlton Woods, Houston TX

Dates: April 20-23

The Chevron Championship starts two weeks after the Masters. This is the first time the tournament will change its venue since 1972; the Mission Hills Country Club in California hosted all previous Chevron Championships.

KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

Venue: Baltusrol Golf Club, Springfield, NJ

Dates: June 21-25, 2023

The tournament took place at Bethesda, MD last year, but will move to New Jersey for the first time ever. But Baltsurol isn’t hosting its first Majors; it has hosted two US Women’s Open, four US Men’s Open, and two PGA tournaments.

US Women’s Open

Venue: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, CA

Dates: July 7-9, 2023

One of the world’s most iconic golf courses is set to host the oldest women’s Major, the US Open, for the first time ever this summer. The venue has also been secured for the 2035, 2040, and 2045 US Women’s Open tournaments.

The Amundi Evian Championship

Venue: Evian Resort Golf Club, France

Dates: July 27-30, 2023

The Evian Championship will be returning to a familiar turf. This venue has hosted all Evian Championships since the inaugural tournament in 1994.

Brooke Henderson’s win was one of the biggest golf news of 2022, as she became the first Canadian to claim the trophy.

AIG Women’s Open

Venue: August Walton Heath, Surrey, England

Dates: August 10-13, 2023

Last but certainly not least is the AIG Women’s Open, which is set to be held in England for the first time since 2019. The venue is most famous for USA’s Ryder Cup win vs Europe in 1981.
