KAPALUA, Hawaii (AP) — Jim Furyk wanted nothing more than to be in Kapalua for the start of the new year on the PGA TOUR. His left wrist refused to cooperate. Furyk hasn’t played since he walked off the course in the first round of the BMW Championship on Sept. 17 with what turned out to be a bone bruise on his wrist. He wound up missing The Presidents Cup, and took the rest of the year off to make sure it was fully healed. But it’s taking longer than he expected.

FURYK FINDS RECIPE FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE CHANGES

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — It was 19 years ago, but Jim Furyk still remembers the day vividly. It was his second year on TOUR and Furyk had just shot a 67 that put him in contention at the Shell Houston Open. Among the players tied with Furyk was veteran Wayne Levi, who was 43 at the time and clearly, shall we say, burned out after his round.

FURYK WINS RBC HERITAGE IN PLAYOFF

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Jim Furyk had gone 100 starts without winning, a stretch that gnawed at his psyche and challenged his confidence. That all disappeared in uncharacteristic fashion Sunday when he won his first PGA TOUR title in five years with birdies on both playoff holes to outlast Kevin Kisner at the RBC Heritage. When the winning putt fell on the par-3 17th, the typically reserved Furyk dropped his putter and punched the air.
